1988 Swell Greats
Swell’s Greats issue presents historical football subjects in a modern tribute format. Date the card by its issue year even when the photograph shows a much earlier playing era. A vintage-looking image and a historical player are not evidence that the physical card was printed during that career.
1989 Swell Greats and 1990 Swell Greats
The next two requested Swell releases extend the retrospective theme. Keep annual checklists separate and identify repeated players by card number and design. A three-year player run can be enjoyable without treating each appearance as a separate rookie-card claim.
1991 Enor Pro Football and 1992 Enor Pro Football
The Enor Pro Football Hall of Fame issues are historical-player collections. Preserve the full title and issue year in your records. A later Hall of Fame tribute and an earlier playing-days card serve different collecting goals and should not share a comparable-sales group.
1991 Quarterback Legends
The Quarterback Legends title refers to a focused historical-quarterback product. Verify the manufacturer and exact card against its cataloged checklist, particularly when a listing uses only the generic phrase “quarterback legends.” Later inserts from other companies can use similar wording.
Autographs on tribute cards
A retired-player tribute can be an appealing autograph surface, but a signature added later is a separate attribute from the original printed card. Distinguish facsimile printing, a manufacturer-certified signed version and a subsequently authenticated autograph. Preserve the authentication description alongside the card’s own grade or condition.
