1986 Donruss Rookies
The 56-card boxed issue uses a blue-green border, glossy front and The Rookies logo. Barry Bonds, Bo Jackson and Will Clark are among its subjects. Wally Joyner was the top card in the wrapped stack, making clear front and corner photographs useful when reviewing an original boxed set.
The Rookies versus Rated Rookies
The boxed The Rookies issue and the flagship's Rated Rookies subset are different collecting systems. The former has its own 56-card checklist and blue-green design; the latter is a designation within ordinary Donruss. A search or inventory using only “Donruss rookie” can combine both, so retain the full printed product name.
For a boxed collection, photograph the checklist coverage and the cards at both ends of the wrapped stack. Wally Joyner's top-of-stack position is a particular reason to inspect that card carefully rather than assuming all cards match the condition of those protected in the middle. Store and describe the mini puzzle as an accompanying item, separate from the baseball-card count.
