1993 Finest

The inaugural 199-card release introduces Finest's chromium stock and a separate Refractor parallel. Refractors require identification of their optical finish; a bright scan alone is insufficient. Jumbo cards are another format and should not be counted as standard-size base examples.

1994 Finest

The checklist expands to 440 cards in two equal series, with special-design rookie and veteran groups. This is substantially larger than the debut. Match the precise year and number before comparing a Refractor or completing a set from a mixed early-Finest lot.

1995 Finest

The 330-card release has a 220-card first series and 110-card Finest Update. Protective film appears on fronts, and Flame Throwers and Power Kings add inserts. Record whether the film remains when describing condition, without assuming its presence guarantees an undamaged surface.

1996 Finest

The 359-card set is divided by theme and by common, uncommon and rare tiers, identified with bronze, silver and gold trim. These are not three versions of every player. The back carries tier and numbering information needed to place each card correctly.

1997 Finest

The 350 cards continue a tiered structure across two series. Common, uncommon and rare groups have different trim and checklist positions. Embossed cards and Refractors add further treatments; distinguish those parallels from the card's underlying base tier.

1998 Finest

The 275-card, two-series set abandons the previous two years' tiered base structure. Mystery Finest, Centurions and The Man are separate insert projects. Do not carry a 1997 bronze/silver/gold base-tier assumption into the identification of a 1998 card.

1999 Finest

The 300-card issue includes short-printed groups such as Gems, Sensations, Rookies and Sterling. Pat Burrell, CC Sabathia and Alfonso Soriano are rookie subjects. Sterling here is a Finest subset name, not the later Bowman Sterling product.

2000 Finest

The checklist includes numbered rookie segments with different limits in its two series: 2,000 and 3,000. Ken Griffey Jr.'s card 146 has two versions. A completion target should state how it treats both that variation and the numbered base subsets.

2001 Finest

The 140-card set includes thirty numbered prospects and ten numbered Standout Veterans scattered through the main run. Albert Pujols has autograph content but is absent from the base checklist. A signed card from the product should not be substituted for a nonexistent base entry.

2002 Finest

The 110-card checklist ends with ten Autographed First Year Player cards. Mini-box packaging becomes part of the product format. A complete base-set description must therefore clarify whether its signed final segment is included.

2003 Finest

The 110-card release again ends with ten autographed rookies. A 1993 Finest buyback program adds older cards to the product context. Keep an original 1993 card's identity separate from its later buyback or autograph treatment.

2004 Finest

This year's base checklist includes ten relic cards as well as an autographed First Year segment. Relic cards are therefore part of the set's structure, not merely optional inserts. Verify the actual checklist numbers rather than assuming an entirely unsigned base run.

2005 Finest

The 166-card checklist includes hand-numbered First Year autographs at 141–156 and a final retired-player group. The expanded Refractor program creates multiple parallel targets. Record whether numbering is on the autograph base card or on a separate parallel.

2006 Finest

The 155-card issue ends with fifteen autographed rookies. Mickey Mantle and Barry Bonds Moments cards add distinct insert projects. Their serial numbering does not make them ordinary base parallels; retain the full Moments title in an inventory.

2007 Finest

The 166-card release has an autograph-only final segment numbered 151–166. Rookie Finest Moments and historical rookie-redemption material are separate groups. A redemption card and the card originally issued for it must be cataloged as different objects.

2008 Finest

The 166-card set again ends with sixteen autographs. Team Favorites and Finest Moments contribute additional signed inserts. Full subset names prevent a base rookie autograph from being confused with an insert autograph of the same player.

2009 Finest

The 164-card checklist finishes with fourteen autographed rookie letter-patch cards. The letters are manufactured components, so their presence should not be described as proof of game use. Identify the card's actual material statement and numbered version.

2010 Finest

The 165-card structure comprises 125 established players, 25 rookies and fifteen autographed letter-patch rookies. In the Name X-Fractor book cards add a different format. A booklet or manufactured patch requires its own precise description rather than a generic base-card label.

2011 Finest

Finest changes to a 100-card base set with separate rookie autograph and relic programs, dropping the preceding letter-patch structure. The release moved later in the season. A 2010-style completion checklist therefore does not apply to this reorganized issue.

2012 Finest

The 100-card base set is accompanied by Faces of the Franchise, Game Changers and Finest Moments. Autographed jumbo-relic rookies form a separate target. Keep insert and relic identities distinct from the ordinary base checklist when organizing a player collection.

2013 Finest

The 100-card issue marks the brand's anniversary with 1993-themed content and buybacks. A modern tribute, an original 1993 card and a later signed buyback are different issues. Photographs of both sides and any certification clarify which example is present.

2014 Finest

The 100-card set includes Warriors die-cut, Competitors and Finest Greats autograph themes. These are separate checklist groups rather than alternate names for the base set. Document die-cut edges and the exact signed treatment when reviewing a graded card.

2015 Finest

The checklist expands to 111 cards and reintroduces short-printed base content. A 1995 Finest tribute is among the insert themes. Preserve the 2015 issue year when cataloging a card that recreates the earlier design.

2016 Finest

The 110-card release includes a 1996 Intimidators tribute and Ken Griffey Jr. career die-cuts. Distribution included direct Topps sales. The original sales channel does not itself identify a special card parallel; use the card's printed treatment and checklist.

2017 Finest

The base checklist reaches 125 cards. A 1994–95 Finest Basketball design tribute and David Ortiz career die-cuts distinguish its inserts. Basketball-inspired design does not change the card's sport or its 2017 baseball product identity.

2018 Finest

The 125-card set features Cornerstones, Sitting Red and Finest Hour themes. Their autograph versions need to be identified separately from unsigned inserts. A player name and “Finest auto” alone omit the checklist information needed for a precise comparison.

2019 Finest

The checklist contains 126 base cards and adds Blue Chips, Prized Performers and Mariano Rivera career die-cuts. Use the actual 126-card list rather than assuming the 125-card count of surrounding years. Parallel and autograph details remain separate identifiers.

2020 Finest

The 125-card issue revisits The Man and includes Ichiro career die-cuts. These are distinct from the base run and from Finest Flashbacks, a separate product. Keep the full release and insert title when comparing retro-themed Finest cards.

2021 Finest

The 125-card set includes a 1997 Masters tribute, Legacies and rookie design variations. A design variation should be identified through its checklist entry, not assumed to be a colored Refractor. Photograph the back alongside the front for reliable matching.

2022 Finest

This 125-card product was released in 2023 under the 2022 Finest name. Aura of Excellence and a 1994–95 basketball-style Cornerstones theme distinguish its extras. Catalog the product year, while recording the later release date only as historical context.

2023 Finest

The 125-card issue includes Headliners, Rivalries die-cuts and a 2000–01 basketball-style World's Finest tribute. Each belongs to its own insert checklist. An elaborate design does not automatically indicate a numbered parallel, so verify the printed card code.

2024 Finest

Finest returns to a tiered 300-card base structure: cards 1–100 are Common, 101–200 Uncommon and 201–300 Rare. This changes completion expectations from the preceding 125-card issues. Establish the base tier before identifying any additional Refractor parallel.
