2021 Topps Chrome Platinum

The 700-card product recreates the 1952 Topps design and was released in 2022 under the 2021 Platinum Anniversary name. A chromium retro card is not an original 1952 issue. Preserve the full edition name and actual parallel when documenting a graded example.

The checklist contracts to 500 cards and advances to the 1953 design. It was released in 2023 as the 2022 product. That design and checklist change distinguishes it from the larger inaugural edition even when both are shortened to Platinum in listings.

Original designs on modern chromium

The 1952 and 1953 designs identify which historical style the two editions revisit; they do not establish the age of the physical card. The 2021 and 2022 product names remain the appropriate inventory labels even though the respective boxes were released the following calendar year. Stating all three dates clearly avoids false vintage identification.

The large 700-card first checklist and smaller 500-card second checklist are different set-building projects. A player missing from one cannot be assumed to exist simply because that player appears in the other. Record the precise parallel from the back and serial stamp, and distinguish modern autograph cards from unsigned retro-designed base cards.
