2016 Topps Chrome Sapphire
The debut is a 700-card factory-set counterpart to paper Topps, with additional selected parallels. It therefore covers many subjects absent from regular 2016 Chrome's smaller base set. A loose Sapphire card should be matched to the flagship numbering.
2017 Topps Chrome Sapphire
The factory-set format continues and adds exclusive Chrome rookie autographs alongside the full base run and selected parallels. Those signed cards are a separate checklist component. A base card from the set is not automatically an autograph or a individually numbered parallel.
2018 Topps Chrome Sapphire
Sapphire moves away from a complete factory set to boxes containing a partial base assortment plus parallels and autographs. Owning one unopened box no longer means owning the full annual base set. Distinguish the box configuration from checklist completeness.
2019 Topps Chrome Sapphire
The product moves into conventional packs. The base checklist still follows the broad flagship context, while rookie autographs remain separate. A pack-built collection therefore needs a number-by-number audit rather than the factory-set assumption applicable to the earliest editions.
2020 Topps Chrome Sapphire
The release continues the flagship-based Sapphire checklist with separate rookie autographs. Padparadscha and SuperFractor treatments require exact identification. Their named finishes and serial stamps should be recorded rather than reduced to a generic one-of-one or orange description.
2021 Topps Chrome Sapphire
The Sapphire base follows the year's smaller 660-card flagship checklist, with a separate rookie autograph program. That differs from the 700-card flagship scale of 2020. Keep the annual checklist size and exact parallel identity independent when assessing completeness.
2022 Topps Chrome Sapphire
The release omits the autograph program offered in the preceding year. Base Sapphire and its numbered parallels remain separate collecting targets. An unsigned card is therefore not missing an expected signature merely because similar Sapphire products previously contained autographs.
2023 Topps Chrome Sapphire
Selections inserts join the Sapphire product context. They need their own checklist rather than being counted as alternate base numbers. The annual base set, Selections and any numbered treatments should be inventoried as distinct groups.
