1996 Topps Chrome
The inaugural 165-card issue selects subjects from the much larger paper Topps set. Chromium stock and Chrome branding distinguish it. A paper checklist cannot serve as the completion target because most paper cards have no counterpart in this debut selection.
1997 Topps Chrome
The 165-card release remains a selected chromium counterpart to paper Topps. All-Stars, Season's Best and Diamond Duos add separate insert groups. Preserve the Chrome issue name when a similar photograph also appears in the paper product.
1998 Topps Chrome
Chrome expands to a full 503-card counterpart in two series, omitting card 7. Silver borders distinguish it from the gold-toned paper design. This is a different completion scale from the selected 165-card releases of the preceding two years.
1999 Topps Chrome
The 462-card release follows the paper checklist and its McGwire and Sosa home-run variations. One example per number and a full variation collection are different targets. Record the printed home-run number when documenting a specific version.
2000 Topps Chrome
The 478-card issue again parallels flagship and includes multiple Magic Moments versions. Card 7 remains omitted. A complete ordinary base run does not automatically imply ownership of every alternate Magic Moments inscription.
2001 Topps Chrome
The 660-card Chrome selection is no longer a full paper parallel. Albert Pujols appears at 596 despite lacking that card in paper flagship, while numbers 7 and 465 are absent. Use the Chrome checklist rather than inferring content from paper Topps.
2002 Topps Chrome
The 660-card Chrome issue preserves flagship numbering but omits the paper set's foilboard groups. The sequence therefore jumps between series. Apparent numerical gaps are part of the documented selection and should not automatically be reported as missing cards.
2003 Topps Chrome
The Chrome checklist contracts to 440 cards. Silver Refractors and Uncirculated X-Fractors add separate parallel projects. An encased presentation and a third-party grade are different attributes; record the actual holder and certification rather than assuming every sealed card is graded.
2004 Topps Chrome
The 466-card set includes 26 autographed First Year cards across its series boundary. Yadier Molina has an unsigned rookie card. The signed segment is part of the annual structure, so a completion description should distinguish it from the unsigned portion.
2005 Topps Chrome
The 472-card release includes 32 First Year autographs, among them Justin Verlander. One-of-one SuperFractors enter the product's parallel program. Exact parallel names and serial stamps matter more than a general description such as gold or shiny.
2006 Topps Chrome
The 354-card release returns to a single series and ends with 24 autographed rookies. The standardized rookie-logo era begins. Record base, award-winner and autograph checklist roles separately rather than using the logo alone as a full issue description.
2007 Topps Chrome
The 363-card set ends with 33 autographed rookies and includes Japanese-text variations for selected players. Language is therefore an identification field alongside Refractor color and autograph status. A front-and-back photograph helps establish the actual version.
2008 Topps Chrome
The 239-card checklist includes nineteen autographed rookies at its end. Trading Card History and anniversary All-Rookie Team cards are separate inserts. A historical design within the product remains a 2008 Chrome card rather than an original earlier issue.
2009 Topps Chrome
The 243-card release finishes with 23 autographed rookies. World Baseball Classic content adds a separate national-team collecting context. Preserve that designation when the same player also appears in a club-uniform card elsewhere in the Topps family.
2010 Topps Chrome
The 220-card base set combines 170 established players and fifty rookies. Chrome versions of Heritage, National Chicle and 206 appear as separate insert programs. The host product and insert identity both matter when assigning those cards to a checklist.
2011 Topps Chrome
The 220-card issue adds a 110-card Black-bordered Refractor partial parallel. That treatment is not a full-set version and is unrelated to the later Topps Chrome Black product. Use the correct year's checklist before looking for every base subject in black.
2012 Topps Chrome
The 220-card set includes Dynamic Die-Cut Refractors and separate rookie autograph content. Die-cut shape and refractive treatment describe different attributes. Record both, with the exact insert number, when identifying a card from a mixed Chrome collection.
2013 Topps Chrome
The 220-card release includes Dynamic Die-Cut, Connection and Back to Back autograph themes. A signed insert is distinct from a base rookie autograph. Full subset names are necessary to compare examples of the same player accurately.
2014 Topps Chrome
The 220-card issue adds Jumbo packaging and includes Topps of the Class, Top Shelf and Connectors die-cut content. Box format does not determine a card's individual identity; its insert title, parallel and number do.
2015 Topps Chrome
The 205-card checklist includes Future Stars, Gallery of Greats, Commencements and Culminations. The similarly themed insert names should be preserved rather than collapsed into a generic Chrome insert group. Autograph versions require an additional designation.
2016 Topps Chrome
The base set contains 200 cards, with Youth Impact, Rookie of the Year Chronicles and MLB Debut themes. A rookie-themed insert is a separate card from the player's ordinary RC-logo base example. Keep both checklist roles visible.
2017 Topps Chrome
The 200-card set includes a 1987-design tribute, Freshman Flash and Bowman Then and Now. The last title is an insert within Topps Chrome, not a standalone Bowman card. Product and insert names should both appear in an exact description.
2018 Topps Chrome
The insert program features a 1983-design tribute and Superstar Sensations alongside rookie autographs. Separate Chrome Update and Sapphire releases require their own checklists. Do not assume every 2018 chromium Topps rookie belongs to the main Chrome product.
2019 Topps Chrome
The release includes 1984-style cards and a 1999 Topps Chrome tribute, plus Debut Gear relic content. A retro design and a relic are separate checklist attributes. Preserve the product year and material statement when describing a special card.
2020 Topps Chrome
A 1985-design tribute and All-Time Rookie Cup Team accompany the main release. Retro Rookie Relics form another group. Those retrospective cards should not be described as original rookie-year issues solely because they revisit a player's early card design.
2021 Topps Chrome
Hobby Lite joins the product's box formats, while Beisbol, Prismic Power and Captain's Cloth add distinct insert or relic groups. Format-specific parallels need exact identification. A box type does not establish that every card from it carries a unique treatment.
2022 Topps Chrome
The main release is followed by the separately marketed 2022 Chrome Sonic issue in 2023. Heart of the City and Pinstriped identify main-product insert content. Keep Sonic-exclusive parallels separate even where ordinary base cards share the same design and numbering.
2023 Topps Chrome
The insert selection includes In Technicolor, Ultraviolet All-Stars and Radiating Rookies. Historical MVP buyback promotions had defined periods and eligible cards; their printed or promotional history is not a current redemption guarantee. Catalog the actual issue and parallel independently.
2024 Topps Chrome
The base checklist expands to 300 cards. All-Etch, Seamhead Signatures and Rookie Rush add separate projects alongside returning inserts. The larger base count changes completion expectations, while each autograph or parallel still requires its own exact title and number.
