1989 Upper Deck
The debut contains 800 cards: seven hundred Low Numbers and a hundred-card High Number extension. Ken Griffey Jr. begins the checklist. High-Series packs also contain low numbers, so their packaging does not imply that every card inside belongs to the extension.
1990 Upper Deck
The 800-card set retains the 700/100 split and includes Sammy Sosa and Larry Walker. Frank Thomas is absent from the flagship checklist. Reggie Jackson Baseball Heroes is a separate insert and autograph context rather than an ordinary base subset.
1991 Upper Deck
The 800-card Low/High structure continues. Baseball Heroes content includes Nolan Ryan and Hank Aaron themes with separately identified autograph versions. A printed Heroes card should not be called signed without verifying the actual signature and certification.
1992 Upper Deck
This 800-card issue is the final annual Upper Deck set using the original 700-card Low and 100-card High scheme. Ted Williams and other Heroes material are separate projects. The following year's two equal series require a different completion strategy.
1993 Upper Deck
The checklist expands to 840 cards in two equal series and includes Derek Jeter. Star Rookies, Community Heroes and Top Prospects form base subsets. Their different designs still belong to the numbered annual run rather than automatically being optional inserts.
1994 Upper Deck
The 550-card release uses two unequal series. Some hobby inserts have East, Central and West regional versions. Preserve the region when identifying those inserts; the dealer's location alone is not a substitute for the actual card's checklist identity.
1995 Upper Deck
The annual checklist reaches 495 cards, including a 45-card Traded group originally obtained through exchange cards. Retail Electric Diamond parallels differ from hobby Special Edition inserts. Both the distribution route and named treatment matter when describing a collection.
1996 Upper Deck
The 510-card run includes thirty U-prefixed Update cards originally available through a wrapper exchange. Factory sets cover the full annual run. An expired exchange card does not replace the actual update cards in a present-day completion checklist.
1997 Upper Deck
The 550-card checklist includes two thirty-card update groups obtained through historical wrapper offers. Front photographs are game-dated, and Game Jersey memorabilia adds a separate product component. A date describing the photograph is not necessarily the card's release date.
1998 Upper Deck
The 751-card annual set spans three releases, with the third called Rookie Edition. Eminent Prestige and other named groups occupy base positions. A collection stopping after the first two series omits a substantial part of the year's checklist.
1999 Upper Deck
The 525-card anniversary issue has a documented gap at 256–265, with Series Two beginning at 266. The highest number therefore exceeds the issued-card count. Follow the checklist gap rather than searching for ten cards that do not belong to the released sequence.
2000 Upper Deck
Two equal series form a 540-card set, with Series Two called Jersey Edition. That subtitle does not make every base card a jersey relic. The actual memorabilia statement and separate checklist identify which cards contain material.
2001 Upper Deck
The 450-card release includes Ichiro and Albert Pujols in its ordinary base checklist. Series Two carries a Midsummer Classic theme for additional content. Distinguish those standard rookie cards from the separately numbered or signed cards in other Upper Deck products.
2002 Upper Deck
The 745-card set uses a 500-card first series and 245-card second series. Series Two Star Rookies have a different insertion context from ordinary veterans. Preserve the series and subset when assessing a nearly complete collection.
2003 Upper Deck
The annual checklist totals 600 cards, including a sixty-card Update set distributed inside 2004 Upper Deck hobby boxes. The later packaging year does not change those cards' 2003 checklist identity. Host box and card issue year should be recorded separately.
2004 Upper Deck
The 590-card run includes a fifty-card Update set distributed in 2005 Upper Deck boxes. A High Gloss factory-set version also exists. Distinguish an ordinary base card, a High Gloss card and the separately distributed update rather than relying on one shared brand name.
2005 Upper Deck
The 500-card set has series of 300 and 200. First-series hobby boxes also contain the previous year's Update set. Cards removed from the same box can therefore belong to different annual checklists, making the printed identity essential.
2006 Upper Deck
The checklist expands to 1,250 cards across two 500-card series and a 250-card retail Update. Jason Repko has a documented numbering correction. A comprehensive audit needs all three portions and should state how it handles that variation.
2007 Upper Deck
The 1,020-card annual run includes a twenty-card Rookie Exchange group between its two large series. The exchange-related cards require their own checklist attention. A pair of ordinary series collections does not automatically establish that every rookie-exchange entry is present.
2008 Upper Deck
The issue contains 799 cards across two series. Yankee Stadium Legacy, 1969-style O-Pee-Chee and USA Baseball content are separate collecting programs. Their presence in Upper Deck packs does not make them additional base numbers in the 799-card set.
2009 Upper Deck
The 1,006-card checklist includes six late-added short prints at 1001–1006. A collection ending at a round thousand is therefore incomplete under the final checklist. The additional numbers should be checked explicitly rather than dismissed as optional extras.
2010 Upper Deck
The 600-card release belongs to Upper Deck's final annual flagship baseball issue in this run. Exquisite cards inserted into the product have their own checklist and numbered treatments. A separate Exquisite card should not be counted as another ordinary flagship base entry.
